D1 Nendaz - Siviez - Combatseline - Essertzes - Pralong
A pleasant leg across the mountain pastures, taking you from the Val de Nendaz to the Val des Dix. It begins in Siviez, which you reach by taxi, with a short ride on the Novelly chairlift. You begin your walk along a pleasant relatively flat path following the bisse, cross the mountain pastures until you reach one of the viewpoints of the valley at Mont-Rouge, and then descend to the Essertses plateau with its small lakes and peat bogs, an area of wetland biotopes unique to many species. A tasting aperitif awaits you at the refreshment bar, before starting the final descent to your hotel at the foot of the Dixence.
Approx. 5h walk: + 420m / -1100m
D2 Pralong – La Sage
Depending on your mood and physical condition, your host can save you the first few metres of ascent by taking you to the neighbouring hamlet. You then climb up to the magnificent Mandelon mountain pastures, where you can stop for a coffee, and take a panoramic path on the edge of the forest to reach the Val d'Hérens. The descent into the valley can be shortened by taking the chairlift. The last part is relatively flat and takes you to the beautiful village of Evolène, so typical of this valley. Here you can taste local wines and products while waiting for your taxi to take you to your hotel, just above the village, at La Sage.
Approx. 4h walk: + 610m / -1000m (or -300m if chairlift)
D3 La Sage – Moiry (Grimentz)
For this last stage of your hike, you begin a long climb, which can be shortened by your taxi, through the pastures of the Val d'Hérens, to the Col du Torrent. The Col du Torrent separates the Val d'Hérens from the Val d'Anniviers, and you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Moiry dam. The descent path takes you to the edge of the superb Lac des Autannes, with a magnificent view over the 4000m high summits of the valley. You end your day along the Moiry dam. Last tasting session before the taxi takes you back to Nendaz.
Approx. 4h30 walk: + 900m / -700m (possibility of finishing the hike in Arolla rather than Moiry, with a quieter last day)
