Jean Reinhardt, better known under the name of Django Reinhardt, was a French jazz guitarist, born in Belgium. His musical and composition style was adopted by his followers, giving birth to a whole new style: gipsy jazz. Towards the age of twelve or thirteen, he played banjo-guitar in building courtyards, in the street, then in the cabarets and dancing parties of Paris, as well as in the homes of wealthy people, while continuing to play above all for his own pleasure. He is still regarded today as one of the most respected and influent guitarists in the history of jazz.
