With over seventy varieties listed, apricots, which can be enjoyed from June to September, are a true regional ambassador.
Each variety has its own characteristics, so don't hesitate to ask one of our apricot farmers for advice and information.
The Valais currently supplies 98% of Swiss production. Ideally located on the left hand side of the Rhône Valley, with its harsh winters and very hot summers, the Printse valley has the perfect climate and soil for growing apricot trees. Watered by a network of ancient irrigation channels, our orchards are ideal for producing the ripest and juiciest fruit.
Jams and sorbets allow you to prolong the summer at your table throughout the colder seasons. Apricot juice as well as dried apricots, filled with vitamines and sweet flavour can also provide a healthy snack.
Apricot schnaps AOC is the speciality immediately associated with this fruit. This 'eau-de-vie',drawn at 44° served ice-cold, will tickle your taste buds and tantalize your palet with its fullness. Those who prefer a softer version will definitely enjoy the sweetness of apricot liqueur.
