Balavaux is a wooded alpine meadow situated in the commune of Isérables. It contains over 250 trees aged from 300 to 1,000 years old. Some of them are classified amongst the biggest larches in Europe. One of them, with a circumference of 14.6 metres, even holds the first place ! A footbridge allows one to walk around it. It also plays a protective role.
The telecabine of Tracouet is open until 18 October 2020. From there, hikers can reach Balavaux on foot in about 30 minutes. They then have the possibility either to go back up as far as Tracouet, or to continue their walk along the bisse de Saxon before rejoining Nendaz. (see itinerary)
From 19 October to 1 November 2020 at 10:30 am, a shuttle bus leaving Nendaz Tourisme takes walkers to Balavaux. The return is made on foot along the bisse de Saxon (see itinerary).
Registration obligatory at Nendaz Tourisme on 027 289 55 89 or at firstname.lastname@example.org up to 5 pm the previous day (Sunday 1pm). Price: 10 francs per adult, 7 francs per child, 5 francs per dog.
