Hike Cabane d'Essertze (mountain cabin)Le départ se situe devant Veysonnaz Tourisme. Le sentier pédestre débute après les places de parc situées au long de la route de l'Ours, sur la droite en montant. La marche est agréable dans la forêt, malgré les 800 mètres de dénivelé. Vous passerez par le Gouilly d’en Bas puis le Gouilly d’en Haut, véritables havres de fraîcheur et de tranquillité au cœur de la forêt.
A Thyon 2000, la plus grande partie de la montée sera derrière. Il faudra suivre la direction Val d’Hérens – Grande Dixence. La balade continue jusqu’à la Cabane d’Essertze sur un sentier pédestre qui gravira les 100 derniers mètres de dénivelé restants.
Tout au long du parcours, l'œil averti saura reconnaître la modification de la flore typique des Alpes en fonction de l'altitude. Le côteau de Thyon, sa forêt avec ses activités touristiques et pastorales représente un exemple réussi de la cohabitation entre la nature et les besoins humains.
La cabane est située dans un cadre idyllique offrant une somptueuse vue sur le Val des Dix. This white wonderland stretches over 400 km of ski slopes of all levels. Snow is guaranteed right down to the foot of the slopes with over 200 artificial snow making devices.
Linking Veysonnaz, Thyon, Nendaz and Verbier via Mont Fort on skis is no longer just a pipe dream, it's a reality at last! Sheer pleasure on a variety of slopes, for example a descent on the legendary Piste de l'Ours, known for its 30 World Cup ski races and always appreciated by competitors, with the Skicross and Snowboard Cross World Cup.
Spring in Veysonnaz: a quieter season for tourists, between the melting snow and the awakening of the surrounding nature. The village lives to the rhythm of the traditional festivals, the farmers bring out their livestock and the schoolchildren are ready to finish their school year, which means a new stage in their lives is about to begin. The beginning of summer is launched at the end of June when the cattle return to the mountain pastures and school closes for the summer holidays.

Thyon is the ideal starting point, both in winter for skiing and in summer and autumn for magnificent mountain walks.
At the arrival of the gondolas, public toilets are available if the facilities are open. The restaurant Le Mont-Rouge as well as the restaurant La Combyre offer a warm and friendly setting for your mountain outings. Just below, the popular bar Le Tipi brings the Thyon plateau to life.
Last but not least, all the facilities needed for a pleasant stay in the mountains can be found in the buildings of the Thyon 2000 complex, to the east of the plateau: restaurants, swimming pool, sports shop, estate agency, doctor, etc...
