    <name>MTB-Trail Sion</name>

<desc>The village of Saclentse is located directly above the Printse on its left bank. The small chapel has been there standing since 1922. The bell that was installed in the bell tower of Basse-Nendaz before 1794 now adorns that of the chapel of Saclentse.

Le Sapin Blanc, the only restaurant in the village, offers home-made dishes made entirely from local produce and traditional products.

Close to the village, the Bisse d&#039;en Bas, which is seldom frequented, offers the opportunity to enjoy a quiet stroll. It is the lowest of the bisses on the left bank of the Printse. Still in use today, it irrigates the meadows, the raspberry and strawberry fields of Basse-Nendaz and Saclentse before joining the Printse.</desc>

    <name>Basse-Nendaz</name>

    <name>The church of Basse-Nendaz</name>
<desc>The original chapel, the oldest part of the building, now serves as a crypt. It is located in the basement of the present-day church. It was built at the end of the 9th and beginning of the 10th century. It was buried under the rubble of subsequent buildings for centuries, but fortunately its remains were discovered during the reconstruction in 1967.

The most important transformations took place between 1882 and 1885 and gave the building its present form. Old photographs show that the bell tower was located in a corner of the building. It was rebuilt and heightened in 1913.

The most recent work carried out on the church dates back to 2003. Some modifications were made, in particular the rehabilitation of the two side openings in the nave of the choir.

The patron saint of the church of Basse-Nendaz is Saint-Léger.</desc>

    <name>Beuson</name>
<desc>Nestled in the hollow of the Nendaz valley, this charming village is renowned for its illuminations in the run-up to the end of the year. Every winter, Beuson is transformed into a fairytale setting. The inhabitants install lights on the roofs of their houses, the chapel and on the bridge for an amazingly magical effect.

There was a time when Beuson was the industrial centre of the municipality. During the 18th and 19th centuries, this village was as populated as Basse-Nendaz, the main town of the area. The proximity of the Printse river was a real asset because the hydraulic power was the only one capable of running the industry of the time (flour mill, sawmill and tannery).

Beuson is also a starting point for your hikes. From the heights of this village, the bisse de Salins departs, dating back to 1435 and thus being one of the oldest bisses in the region. An impressive metal footbridge overhangs the river Ogeintse for a very aerial passage..</desc>

    <name>Brignon</name>
<desc>In the Middle Ages, a watchtower stood on the hillock on the present site of the Brignon castle restaurant. Peter II of Savoy, who had authority over the Nendaz region at the time and was in conflict with the Bishop of Sion, decided in 1261 to build a dungeon there to protect the land on the right bank of the Printse. The strategic location made it possible to keep an eye on the valley and to communicate by signals with the Tour de Conthey in the Rhone Valley. The castle was demolished only a few years after its construction for financial reasons. Its ruins can still be seen today.

In the first part of the 20th century, the first hotel in the municipality was built on the ruins of the old tower.

If you are in the area, stop at the Brignon dairy for some tasty cheese and other local products.

In Brignon, at the very bottom of the village, you can also find the start of the Bisse de Baar. To access it, you must pass through the cowshed where you can say &#039;hi&#039; to its residents.</desc>

    <name>Baar</name>
<desc>Baar is divided into two parts: Baar at the top end and Plan-Baar on the plateau below.

The numerous apricot orchards in this village are still watered by the Bisse de Baar. The latter has its source below the castle of Brignon and also irrigates the regions of Pravidondaz and Turin (in the municipality of Sion). It was built before 1456.

Since 2009, the village has hosted its annual Carnival festivities with a parade and fancy dress competition, thanks to the CarnaBaar organizing committee.

During summer, there is a fruit stand between Baar and Brignon where you can buy the legendary Baar apricots.</desc>
