MTB-Trail Tortin for familiesYou can reach the Tortin plateau astride your mountain bike or by using the chairlift equipped for transporting them. The starting point of the track towards Tortin is on your right when you arrive in Siviez, opposite the first buildings. This easy route runs up along the Hérens cow themed trail which is due to open in 2021. Children can have fun at the various posts while learning all about the life of the Hérens cows, emblematic breed of the Valais. A brochure explaining the trail is available at the ski lift ticket office at the far end of the Siviez car park. It is also the starting point to reach Mont-Fort, a summit that is easily accessible throughout the summer and the winter thanks to the ski lifts
At the far end of the valley stands the Cleuson dam wall, built between 1947 and 1950. 410 metres long at the top and 87 metres high, it can hold up to 20 million m3 of water.
In winter, more than 400 kilometres of slopes await you, as well as several ski touring and snowshoeing routes and a sledge run. The Siviez snow garden allows the very young to discover their first joys of skiing.
In summer, the ski slopes give way to the mountain pastures, which are the preferred holiday destination for the Hérens breed of cows. In winter, it allows skiers to reach Verbier via the Col des Gentianes or Chassoure. You can also go down to the intermediate station to access the long blue slope of Tortin, perfect for beginners.
The intermediate station is also the departure point for the sledge run down to Siviez. Guaranteed fun for the whole family!
In summer, the Tortin chairlift takes you to the departure point of the Japanese Garden walk, which is very popular thanks to its enchanting natural setting. It also passes over beautiful mountain pastures where the famous Hérens cows spend the summer. If you keep your eyes open, you may also be lucky enough to spot marmots basking in the sun on the rocks !
Equipped with protection bubbles and guardrails adapted to children, this chairlift ensures a high level of comfort and safety for the whole family !
