Marie-Jo Nançoz, also known as Maro, has been painting in her workshop in the Valais for 35 years.

She began by painting on silk, then aquarelle and finally found her favourite kind of painting : oil and acrylic. She is neither a scientist, nor an intellectual or academic. She feels that artists experiment with a different form of intelligence.

She explores what might perhaps be called intuitive knowledge. Beyond the known, the defined, the resonant thought, her painting is not just a lyrical gesture. Maro spends weeks thinking and feeding on her surroundings and then one morning she wakes up and has a vision of the composition of her painting.

Her painting is like a dance routine that allows her to interact with the colours.
