The cabin is accessible in both summer and winter and is manned from March to April and July to September. It has 60 bunks in dormitories for four to 17 people, equipped with Nordic duvets. There is also heating, electricity and showers.
In winter, Prafleuri is a popular stop on the Haute Route Chamonix-Zermatt. Outside of the operating dates, a rescue room is always open.
When the dam was built, the Prafleuri valley was used as a gravel pit. The name Prafleuri may suggest "flowery meadow" but nowadays the land is rather mineral. However, the flora is still present and a discerning eye can find treasures such as the famous Genepi herb.
