The Raspberry

Local & regional heritage

In summer, enjoy this excellent little sweet red fruit, typical of our region !

A few decades ago, many families in our valley grew raspberries. In 1964, the municipality of Nendaz provided 300 tons of raspberries, i.e. 75% of the Valais' production. Towards the end of the last century, Nendaz's production declined seriously, as the new generation of farmers felt that the financial contribution earned did not justify the large investment in work time.

Today, production is handled by specialists who have all the knowledge required to grow this fine, delicate fruit. The raspberry loves the mountains, as it thrives on cool nights and warm days.

Whether it is called Glen, Mailing Exploit, Tulameen... its flesh is tender and fragrant. Its inimitable red colour makes it very attractive. Few gourmets will be able to resist its irresistible appeal !

The raspberry has of course its own schnapps and liqueur with each their own powerful fragrance. A real treat for pastry chefs, you can enjoy it in tarts, pies, ice cream, etc. Delicious to be eaten as it is throughout the summer! In juice or in jelly and jam, you can enjoy it all year round.
